Do-it-Yourself Island

8:16 PM

I have discovered that I am a 'stand-up' scrapper!  I most often find myself standing at my counter to cut and design my lay-outs.  But the old counter was a little short for me and the counter was covered with a 'lumpy' linoleum!  I felt obligated to keep it since it was original to my station.  But one day while my hubby was visiting me there, he mentioned that he thought I should have a better counter to work on!  So....my search began!
This is the work island of my dreams from Pottery Barn...
It is big and spacious and $1100.00!!!!!!

Here is my do-it-yourself model.

I purchased 3 ClosetMaid 6-cube storage units from Target and a 2' x 4' laminate shelf from Menards for the counter.  Total cost $132.00!
This view above is what you see as you enter my station.

This back side is open for the rare occasion when I do want to pull up my stool. I can also roll my project cart underneath.
It may not be as fancy or as big as the Pottery Barn work table, but it fits my space perfectly and left me lots of extra money for new products :)
